Lazatin admin, college students plant trees at Angeles City watershed

The Angeles City government, under the leadership of Mayor Carmelo Lazatin Jr., and the City College of Angeles students have conducted a tree planting activity at the city watershed in Barangay Sapangbato.

The activity on Tuesday, June 11, spearheaded by the City Environment and Natural Resources, was part of the city government’s efforts to reforest the 560-hectare watershed, the City Information Office (CIO) said.

The local government started its massive reforestation efforts in 2020 to increase water reserves, which will benefit the city and the Metro Clark area.

Lazatin urged the private sector and non-government organizations to “adopt’ certain areas in the watershed.

“Having water is a must. These efforts being done at the present time will help conserve water for the use of future generations. Isa lang naman po ang goal natin, ang maseguro ang kapakanan ng ating mga kababayan, habang pinangangalagaan ang kalikasan,” Lazatin said.
