Buntis Assembly 2024: Ensuring safe pregnancy, maternal self-care, infant health

ANGELES CITY – Some 200 expectant mothers converge at the Marquee Mall here on Sept. 27 for the Buntis Assembly 2024 dedicated to promoting safe motherhood

An initiative of Vice Mayor Vicky Vega-Cabigting, Buntis Assembly engages the services of health professionals to equip participants with vital knowledge and resources to ensure healthy pregnancies and safe deliveries.

“This initiative is part of our Kalusugan Program, aimed at supporting pregnant women in our community,” shared Vega-Cabigting. “We provide essential pregnancy kits and invite health experts to share vital information on how expectant mothers can care for themselves and their children.”

The Buntis Assembly underscored the city’s commitment to empower women with the necessary prenatal knowledge and tips for self-care and infant health.

Guest speaker Dr. Rowie Medina, OB-GYNE and women and children’s health advocate, underscored the importance of prenatal care and well-informed mother for safe pregnancy.

“Regular checkup, balance nutrition, and physical activity are key essentials to consider,” she noted. “Morning sickness, heartburn and backache are common symptoms during first trimester.”

Aside from the discussions, participants received free medicines, Beautederm products, “preggy” kits and had the chance to win exciting raffle prizes.

The initiative is supported by Pampanga 1st District Rep. Carmelo “Jon” Lazatin II, Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr., and the Angeles City Sangguniang Panlungsod.
