STO. TOMAS, Pampanga — The Bachelor of Elementary Education (BEEd) students of Don Honorio Ventura State University-Sto. Tomas Campus held an in-campus seminar on “Navigating the Matatag Curriculum: A roadmap for future educators” last Nov. 22 at the campus.
With all the school’s BEEd students in attendance, the seminar underscored the importance of continuous professional development and lifelong learning, offering resources and strategies to help future educators stay updated on the latest educational trends, research and innovative pedagogical approaches within the Matatag framework.
Resource speaker Analyn P. Aquino, Principal III of Sto. Domingo Elementary School in Mexico, provided the future educators with a comprehensive grasp of the Matatag curriculum’s framework, starting with a detailed explanation of its fundamental principles, overarching goals and structural organization.
Thereby, equipping the participants with practical tools and insightful strategies for effective implementation in their teaching careers, as well as on the Matatag curriculum’s emphasis on 21st century skills, exploring how these skills are integrated into the curriculum design and how teachers can effectively foster their development in students.
Aquino also highlighted the curriculum’s significance in the assessment for learning, demonstrating how formative and summative assessments can be used to track student progress.
Part of the seminar was dedicated to the practical application of the Matatag curriculum, with interactive workshops and case studies demonstrating how to translate abstract curriculum standards into concrete, actionable learning objectives.
