Meralco to put up 20-MVA substation in Mabalacat City

CLARK FREEPORT – The Manila Electric Company will set up a 20-megavolt ampere (MVA) substation in the Mabalacat City in a bid to augment the existing power supply in the city.

This, as a reaffirmation of the Manuel V. Pangilinan-led company’s dedication to delivering stable, reliable, and efficient electricity services across its franchise areas.

Speaking at the recent Capampangan in Media, Inc. Forum here, Meralco executives, led by vice president and head of corporate communications Joe Zaldarriaga, outlined the company’s ongoing initiatives to enhance power reliability both within and beyond its coverage, including Pampanga.

Zaldarriaga highlighted that Meralco’s efforts are fueled by strategic investments and collaborations designed to bolster electricity reliability, expand economic opportunities, and uplift community livelihoods. 

“Stable, adequate, and reliable electricity is critical to national development,” Zaldarriaga noted, emphasizing the essential role of energy in spurring business growth and improving quality of life.

Scheduled to be energized early next year, the 20-MVA substation in Mabalacat  City is expected to significantly enhance service reliability and cater to the area’s increasing energy demands.

Joe-Mel S. Zaporteza, chief management advisor of Pampanga Electric Cooperative II (Pelco 2), discussed the benefits of Meralco’s management support and investment in its operations. These include improved customer service and reliability, further supported by acquiring a new mobile substation.

Zaporteza highlighted that the partnership with Meralco has been instrumental in addressing the power needs of Pelco 2’s service area, bringing tangible improvements to its customers’ lives.
