ANGELES CITY — The city government here under the leadership of Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr. ranked third in the Search for the Most Disaster Resilient LGUs in Pampanga through the Disaster Resilience and Enhanced Adaptation and Mitigation (DREAM) Markers of the Pampanga Provincial Risk Reduction and Management Council.
Accompanied by city disaster risk reduction and management officer Rodolfo Simeon, Lazatin received the said award from Gov. Dennis “Delta” Pineda, and Pampanga PDRRMO chief Angie Blanco at Kingsborough International Convention Center in the City of San Fernando on Dec. 6.
The Mabalacat City DRRMO secured the first place while the City of San Fernando DRRMO clinched the second place in the DREAM assessment.
The DREAM Assessment aimed to evaluate the level of disaster resilience of LGUs by reviewing the establishment, institutionalization, and functionality of DRM in the component cities and municipalities of the province using the Disaster Resilience Markers and the submitted best DRRM-CCAM practices using Enhanced Adaptation and Mitigation Markers.
The award reflects the effective strategies and proactive measures implemented by the city government to ensure safety and resilience against disasters.
Lazatin acknowledged the efforts and hard work of the ACDRRMO headed by Simeon for ensuring a disaster-prepared and resilient city.
“Ibang klaseng sipag at dedikasyon ang pinapakita ng ating ACDRRMO sa pangunguna ni Rudy Simeon, sinisigurado nila na laging handa ang ating siyudad may kalamidad man o wala,” Lazatin said.
To recall, the city government received the back-to-back fully complaint Gawad Kalasag award. Angeles CIO
