CITY OF SAN FERNANDO — Mabalacat City claimed victory in the first-ever inter-town choral competition during the week-long celebration of the 453rd Aldo ning Kapampangan, held on Dec. 9.
The event showcased the exceptional musical talent of Kapampangans, with participants from nine municipalities captivating the audience through renditions of cherished Kapampangan Christmas songs and holiday classics.
Choirs delivered performances characterized by stunning vocals, intricate choreography, and vibrant costumes, embodying the festive spirit of the season.
On behalf of Gov. Dennis “Delta” Pineda and Vice Gov. Lilia “Nanay” Pineda, board member Atty. Ananias Canlas Jr., chairman of the 453rd Aldo ning Kapampangan, led the awarding ceremonies alongside provincial tourism officer Mike Castañeda.
In his remarks, Canlas emphasized Governor Delta’s commitment to promoting Kapampangan talent on a larger stage, celebrating the province’s unique cultural identity, and showcasing the immense potential of Kapampangans in music and the performing arts.
“Today we are not just here to hear and to discover at bigyan ng pansin at bigyan ng pagpapahalaga ang natatanging katangian ng mga Kapampangan. Sa ngalan po ng lahat ng nanunungkulan sa lalawigan ng Pampanga sa pamumuno po ni Gov. Dennis “Delta” Pineda, nagpapasalamat po kami sa lahat ng mga sumali para maging makabuluhan ang selebrasyon ng ika-453 Aldo ning Kapampangan,” he added.
Mabalacat City not only emerged as the competition’s champion but also garnered special awards, including Best in Kapampangan Song and Best in Choreography. First runner-up was Magalang that also received the Best in Costume award for its visually captivating presentation. Sto. Tomas completed the top three by taking second runner-up honors and earning recognition for its outstanding soloist, whose heartfelt performance brought the audience to its feet.
Winners were awarded trophies and cash prizes of up to ₱70,000, while other participating LGUs received consolation prizes courtesy of Nanay Partylist. Pampanga PIO
