Mayor Vilma Balle-Caluag of San Fernando City, Pampanga has led the groundbreaking ceremony to construct a bridge in Del Pilar.
Once built, the 20.8-meter Sitio Matahimik Bridge will connect Sitio Matahimik, Del Pilar (near the New Public Market) to Unisite Subdivision, San Jose, and San Felipe, as well as the nearby town of Mexico, the City Information Office (CIO) said.
Caluag said the bridge will be an alternate route to decongest the traffic flow in going to the City Town Proper and New Public Market.
Quoting the City Engineering Office (CEO), the CIO said Phase 1 of the project is expected to be completed within three months. Phase 2 will be finished after six months.
City General Services Officer and Acting City Administrator Engr. Michael Quizon, Jr., City Engineer Anele David, and other department heads were also present during the event on Thursday, January 16.
