AC commemorates 127th Philippine Independence Day

ANGELES CITY — The city government joined the nation in celebrating the 127th Philippine Independence Day at the Museo ng Kasaysayang Panlipunan ng Pilipinas here.
Sen. Loren Legarda served as the guest of honor for the celebration led by Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin, Jr. and Pampanga 1st District Rep. Carmelo “Jon” Lazatin II.

Mayor Lazatin said the celebration serves as a reminder of the patriotism and nationalism of our brave heroes who fought valiantly for our independence.

The National Historical Commission of the Philippines says the 1st Philippine Independence Day was celebrated at the Holy Rosary Church atrium on June 12, 1899, based on new information published in La Independencia, a revolutionary newspaper founded by Gen. Antonio Luna.

Present during the simple and short ceremonies to mark the 127th Philippine Independence Day are Vice Mayor Vicky Vega-Cabigting, members of the Sangguniang Panlungsod, Department of Transportation Assistant Secretary for Right of Way IC Calaguas, Executive Assistant IV Reina Manuel, department heads and officers-in-charge, Department of Education, National Museum of Social History of the Philippines Curator Bettina Arriola, Kuliat Foundation Inc., City College of Angeles Sayaw Angeleño Dance Troupe, and Angeles University Foundation Concert Chorus.
