Mayor Caluag graces unveiling of Pampanga State University

San Fernando City Mayor Vilma Balle-Caluag attended the official inauguration of the Pampanga State University (PSU).

The event represented a historic turning point for the institution, which used to be the Don Honorio Ventura State University (DHVSU).

The ceremony was held Friday, June 27, at what is now PSU’s main campus in Sa Fernando’s nearby town of Bacolor.

Outgoing Pampanga 3rd District Representative Aurelio “Dong” Gonzales Jr. pushed for the passage of Republic Act No. 12148 to rename DHVSU to PSU.

Caluag represented the city government and every Fernandino DHVSU-PSU student in the historic ceremony, attending along with Councilor and incoming Vice Mayor Brenz Gonzales, who was also present with his family members and fellow public officials to celebrate their father’s legacy to the university.

The mayor thanked the PSU and the Gonzaleses for their never-ending dedication to education, which also paved the way for the establishment of the university’s San Fernando Annex campus in Barangay Malino, which will serve Fernandinos in addition to the City College of San Fernando Pampanga.
