The Bureau of Customs (BOC) Port of Clark seized ₱1.799 million worth of marijuana and cannabis-infused cartridges declared as cosmetic items in a shipment from the United States, which was bound for Cebu City.
Through the profiling efforts of Customs examiners at BOC Clark, the shipment was flagged for physical examination due to a suspicious commodity description.

A K-9 sniff test conducted by Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) operatives yielded positive results for narcotics, prompting a thorough inspection.
The parcel contained three (3) vacuum-sealed pouches—one holding two pouches of dried leaves and fruiting tops suspected to be marijuana or “Kush,” weighing approximately 1.046 kilograms with an estimated value of ₱1,569,000. The remaining two pouches contained a total of 100 pieces (50 per pouch) of yellowish substance suspected to be cannabis-infused cartridges, valued at ₱230,000.

Collected samples were forwarded to the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) for laboratory testing, which verified the presence of marijuana, categorized as a dangerous drug under Republic Act No. 9165, as amended.
In accordance with the law, a Warrant of Seizure and Detention was issued for the shipment due to violations of Sections 118(g), 119(d), and 1113(f),(i), and (l) of Republic Act No. 10863, otherwise known as the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act (CMTA), in connection with Republic Act No. 9165.

This interception forms part of the BOC’s efforts in response with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s directive to curb drug trafficking by tightening customs checks at the country’s entry points.
District Collector Jairus S. Reyes underscored that this successful operation highlights the importance of continuously improving Customs examiners’ profiling skills through ongoing training and capacity building.
