PAMPANGA, Philippines — At least 40 barangays across the municipalities of Masantol, Macabebe, and Minalin in Pampanga have reported flooding, as persistent monsoon rains and high tide conditions continue to impact low-lying areas in the province.
Based on the July 10 Situational Report of the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO), 16 barangays in Masantol have been swamped with floodwaters ranging from 1 to 2 feet. Areas in barangays Alauli, Bagang, Balibago, Nigui, Sagrada, and Sapang Kawayan have reported widespread flooding. Several portions of Sta. Lucia, San Isidro, San Nicolas, Bebe Anac, Sta. Cruz, and Palimpe also experienced similar conditions, with some interior roads and residential zones submerged in ankle- to knee-deep water.
Meanwhile, Macabebe reported flooding in 11 barangays, with water depths reaching up to 4.5 feet in some areas. Barangay Tacasan recorded the highest flood level at 1.5 to 4.5 feet. Other severely affected areas include Batasan, Caduang Tete, Candelaria, San Gabriel, and Saplad David. The flooding was attributed to a combination of high tide and continuous monsoon rains, particularly affecting riverside and low-lying communities.
In Minalin, flooding was observed in 13 barangays, mostly in Purok areas, with water depths ranging from 1 to 2 feet. The situation was caused by fluvial flooding due to river overflow and sustained rainfall. Sta. Catalina, San Francisco, San Nicolas, Sto. Rosario, and Bulac are among the affected villages. All Puroks in barangays Dawe, Maniango, and Saplad were also reported flooded.
Local authorities and disaster response teams are closely monitoring water levels and weather patterns, especially as monsoon rains are expected to continue in the coming days. Residents in affected areas are advised to remain alert and observe precautionary measures. #
