Pampanga First District Representative Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin, Jr. is set to lobby ₱260 million to fund the rehabilitation of all 173 day care centers in the First District in 2026.
This was outlined during a workshop of programs for 2026 held on August 16, 2025, facilitated by Lazatin’s Chief Adviser, IC Calaguas, and Chief Political Affairs Officer Reina Manuel, together with District Engineer Arnold Ocampo of the DPWH Pampanga 3rd District Engineering Office.
During the workshop, it was discussed that Lazatin intends to repair all 173 day care centers in the First District, and install two HP air-conditioners and a smart TV – at least 55 inches in size – in each day care center.
“It is always my intention to make learning more conducive by providing a better learning environment, especially to our pre-schoolers,” Lazatin said.
Currently, there are 78 day care centers in Angeles City, 62 in Mabalacat City, and 33 in Magalang Municipality.
Also present during the workshop are Lazatin’s long-time staff – Mina Cabiles, Irish Llego, Michael Lising, Anneleen Antonio, Mary Jane Calimquim, Anne Salonga, and Sharmaine Gonzales.
It can be recalled that as Angeles City Mayor, Lazatin spearheaded the repair of day care centers in Angeles City, amounting to P5 Million.
Lazatin also led the construction of additional classrooms, offices, laboratories, and canteen at the City College of Angeles (CCA), amounting to P259 million; and the construction of the P50 million New Annex Building of the CCA, funded by the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR).
Under the Lazatin administration, 58,000 tablets were distributed to public students in Angeles City from Grades 4 to 12; 3,200 tablets were distributed to public school teachers; and 3,200 tablets were distributed to students of CCA. #
