Sa gitna ng kontrobersiya sa flood control projects! Pampanga mayors vow transparency, accountability

The Pampanga mayors have signed a statement seeking to uphold good governance.

The Provincial Information Office (PIO) stated that the covenant, signed on Wednesday, August 27, aims to combat corruption.

“As local chief executives entrusted with the sacred mandate to serve our people, we, the Mayors of Pampanga, stand as one in our firm resolve to uphold the highest standards of integrity in public service,” the mayors said in a statement.

The local officials said they categorically denounce all forms of corruption as it robs the people of resources meant for their welfare and future.

“Corruption is not only illegal – it is a betrayal of the trust reposed upon us by our constituents,” the statement read.

The mayors issued the statement amid controversies in some of the government’s flood control projects.

They promised to commit to transparency in using public funds, promote accountability, and safeguard public trust.

The local chief executives said accountability and transparency must not be confined to flood control and infrastructure projects alone, but all areas of governance, like health, education, social services, procurement, budgeting, and local legislation.
