CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga (PIA) — The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) boosted waste management efforts by turning over 10 waste collection vehicles to selected barangays within the Pantabangan–Carranglan Watershed Forest Reserve (PCWFR).
Implemented through the Nueva Ecija Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office, these vehicles aim to improve waste collection efficiency at the barangay level, reduce improper waste disposal, and support conservation efforts within the protected watershed.

DENR Regional Executive Director Ralph Pablo underscored the crucial role of local government units in combating pollution and protecting ecosystems within protected areas.
“Our partnership with our local government units (LGUs) is one of our foundations in our fight against pollution, and with their aid, we can lessen the damage that can devastate our ecosystems and our protected areas,” he said.
Recipient barangays include seven in Nueva Ecija—Burgos, San Agustin, D.L. Maglanoc, G.S. Rosario, Bunga, Salazar, and Gen. Luna in Carranglan—and three in Nueva Vizcaya—Canabuan in Sta. Fe, Canabuan in Aritao, and Lukidnon in Dupax del Sur.
Funded through the Integrated Protected Area Fund, the project supports partner communities and LGUs in implementing effective solid waste management programs within protected areas.
Through initiatives such as this, DENR continues to work with local communities and government partners to strengthen waste management practices and safeguard the region’s natural resources for present and future generations. (CLJD/MCAL, PIA Region 3–Nueva Ecija)
