A P30-million fish port would soon rise in the second district of Pampanga.
The Pampanga Provincial Information Office (PIO) said this was conveyed by Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) Regional Director Wilfredo Cruz during his recent visit to Governor Lilia “Nanay” Pineda.
“Nakatakdang itayo ang fish port sa bayan ng Lubao, na may mabilis na access sa mga coastal barangay ng Sasmuan, upang mas mapadali ang operasyon at kabuhayan ng mga mangingisda,” the PIO said, noting the construction of the port is expected to take place within the year.
The provincial government would also ask BFAR for a cold storage facility to further assist the Kabalen fishermen in preserving and selling their catch.
The agency, in partnership with the provincial government, is also expected to distribute P5-million worth of tilapia fingerlings, fishing paraphernalia, and fish processing tools this year, the PIO added.
