A Malaysian national was reported dead after an under-construction nine-story building collapsed in Angeles City early Sunday morning, May 24.
The Bureau of Fire Protection confirmed the death of the “handicapped” foreigner, who was living near the collapsed structure in Balibago, Angeles City.
Mayor Carmelo “Jon” Lazatin II continued to personally monitor the operation as 21 people could still be trapped under the debris.
“Patuloy ring nagsasagawa ng clearing at retrieval operations ang mga responder gamit ang specialized equipment, kabilang ang Environmental Management System (EMS) para sa pagtukoy at pag-alis ng mga metal debris sa lugar ng insidente,” the City Information Office (CIO) said.
The Angeles City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (ACDRRMO) reported that 26 individuals have been rescued from the incident.
