The Bureau of Customs – Port of Clark, in coordination with the Clark Inter-Agency Task Force Against Illegal Drugs (CRK-IATFAID), intercepted three separate shipments containing Methamphetamine Hydrochloride or “shabu” with a combined estimated value of over ₱64.9 million.
Authorities intercepted three shipments containing suspected “shabu” concealed in declared goods: a shipment from India that arrived on May 25, 2026 and was bound for Camarines Sur, declared as “Industrial Pistons,” which yielded approximately 6,800 grams worth ₱4.2 million hidden inside pistons during examination on May 26; a shipment from Liberia that arrived on May 20, 2026 and was bound for Cavite, declared as “Car Parts,” which contained approximately 432 grams worth ₱2.9 million concealed inside wheel hubs during examination on May 25; and a shipment from Africa that arrived on May 22, 2026 and was bound for Angeles City, declared as “Green Square Plastic Resin,” which yielded approximately 8,500 grams worth ₱57.8 million hidden inside resin materials during examination on May 25.

Initial testing using a Rigaku Spectrometer confirmed the substances as Methamphetamine Hydrochloride, a dangerous drug under Republic Act No. 9165, as amended. Samples from each parcel were submitted to the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) for confirmatory testing.

A Warrant of Seizure and Detention (WSD) was issued against the shipments for violations of Sections 118(g), 119(d), and 1113 paragraphs (f), (i), and (l)(3) and (4) of Republic Act No. 10863, or the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act (CMTA), in relation to R.A. No. 9165.
Customs Commissioner Ariel F. Nepomuceno emphasized the critical role of airport ports in preventing the entry of illegal drugs and other contraband into the country, noting that air cargo and express parcels remain common channels for smuggling attempts.

“Our airports remain among the most vulnerable entry points for illegal drugs and other prohibited goods. That is why I commend the Port of Clark, together with other airports under the Bureau’s jurisdiction, for their vigilance, professionalism, and sustained efforts in detecting and intercepting these shipments before they reach our communities,” Commissioner Nepomuceno said.
Meanwhile, District Collector Jairus S. Reyes commended the sustained vigilance and operational readiness of Customs personnel and partner agencies in combating drug smuggling.

“Drug smuggling schemes continue to evolve, but our frontline personnel remain equally adaptive and vigilant. Through strengthened coordination, sharper profiling, and relentless monitoring, the Port of Clark remains committed to stopping these dangerous substances before they reach our communities,” Reyes said.
These successful operations underscore the Bureau of Customs’ continuing vigilance against drug smuggling and its commitment to secure the country’s borders from illegal narcotics.
