MINALIN, Pampanga – In partnership with the Provincial Government of Pampanga, the Department of Social Welfare and Development took its food-for-work program to coastal barangays here and in Macabebe town benefitting a total of 10,109 residents.
Reframed to provide support to vulnerable communities while promoting environmental protection and disaster preparedness ahead of the rainy season, the activity carried the title: “Clean-Up Drive in the Coastal Areas of Pampanga: A Community Empowerment and Disaster Preparedness Project.”
In Minalin, the program served 4,431 residents, including 986 from Barangay Bulac, 1,022 from Dawe, 964 from Saplad, and 1,459 from Maniango.
In Macabebe, assistance was provided to 5,678 residents, comprising 1,353 from Barangay Dalayap, 2,638 from San Esteban, and 1,687 from Consuelo. The beneficiaries received family food packs in exchange for participating in community clean-up activities in their coastal areas held last May 12 and 13. Grace Ronquillo, a beneficiary from Barangay Saplad, thanked the Provincial Government for the assistance. “We are deeply grateful to the Provincial Government for bringing this DSWD assistance to us. Through this program, we were also able to help clean our surroundings,”
On behalf of Gov. Lilia “Nanay” Pineda, Vice Gov. Dennis Delta” Pineda led the distribution of family food packs with 4th District board members Dr. Kaye Naguit and Atty. Vince Calara.
“Our residents in coastal barangays face many challenges, especially during the rainy season and times of disaster. We thank the DSWD for this food-for-work program, which provides timely support to our coastal communities,” the vice governor said.
