FIRST DISTRICT, Pampanga – In his first year in service as Pampanga First District Representative, Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin, Jr. has stayed true to his call of delivering “serbisyong may puso” to his constituents.
As his primary duty as a legislator, Cong Pogi has filed 60 House Bills and 68 Resolutions to date, highlighting various issues in his legislative agenda – environmental protection, social welfare, health, nutrition, education, and labor – as well as measures reflecting current issues, such as animal welfare and public safety.
A dedicated worker, Cong Pogi has attended all Regular Sessions since the opening of the 20th Congress.
Cong Pogi also consistently prioritzed extending help to vulnerable sectors.
7,527 residents received assistance through the Ayuda para sa Kapos ang Kita Program (AKAP) of DSWD, while 8,649 residents received assistance through the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS).
During the height of the oil price hikes resulting from the crisis in the Middle East, Cong Pogi likewise extensed assistance to affected public utility drivers — 17,074 TODA members and 2,555 JODA members in the First District received five kilos of rice each.
Meanwhile, 6,932 residents received free medicines, 1,350 received financial assistance, 397 received burial assistance, and 198 received wheelchairs.
Cong Pogi also personally visited 907 bedridden senior citizens in Angeles City, Mabalacat City, and Magalang Municipality to deliver P2,000 financial assistance, five kilos of rice, and Vitamin C supplements. Some 351 free caskets have been given to indigent residents, personally funded by Cong Pogi from his salary as congressman.
He has also awarded 290 Kapampangan achievers with Certificates of Recognition, and given a total of P 690,000 cash incentives for their accomplishments. Cong Pogi’s annual Medal of Excellence was also awarded to 176 exemplary graduates in the First District, who received 1,000 cash incentive each for a total of P176,000.
A total of 269 students also received assistance through the Tulong Dunong Program of the Commission on Higher Education (CHED), while 314 individuals are enrolled in the Special Training for Employment Program (STEP) and Training for Work Scholarship Program (TWSP) of the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA).
A year into his term as District Representative, Cong Pogi is more motivated than ever to deliver the public service with a heart.
Cong Pogi is set to file more legislation focusing on education and public health, which are also included in his legislative agenda.
