CITY OF SAN FERNANDO — A total of P5.8 million in medical assistance was distributed to 145 Kapampangan patients suffering from various illnesses on Monday, July 6, 2026.
Gov. Lilia “Nanay” Pineda and members of the sangguniang panlalawigan personally led the distribution of assistance to patients in need of financial support for hospitalization, surgery, laboratory examinations, chemotherapy, dialysis, medications, and other medical expenses.
Among the beneficiaries was the three-year-old child of Jessica May Abad of Sta. Cruz, Lubao, who is battling severe hemophilia A, a congenital bleeding disorder in which even a minor injury or bump may cause bleeding, swelling, bruising, and severe joint pain.
Jessica shared that sustaining her child’s medication has been a major challenge for their family, as the medicine has to be sourced from abroad. During a bleeding episode, each infusion costs more than P9,000 and must be administered every 12 hours for three to five days.
“Napakasakit po pag nakikita po namin siyang umiiyak, pati po kami umiiyak habang nakikita siyang nahihirapan,” Jessica said, describing the emotional and financial burden their family endures whenever her child suffers from the condition.
Through the Capitol, Jessica’s family received P148,000, enough to cover the child’s medication needs for one month.
Records from the medical assistance office show that most of the beneficiaries assisted during the distribution were patients undergoing chemotherapy and other critical treatments.
“Marami pong tinutulungan ang Kapitolyo. Ipinapangako po namin, kasama ang mga board member at si Vice Gov, na bawat sentimo ng pondo ng Kapitolyo ay mapupunta para sa kapakanan ng mga Kapampangan,” the governor said.
She also urged families not to delay medical consultation and treatment, stressing that early detection and immediate medical attention are vital in preventing illnesses from worsening and reducing the burden of higher medical expenses. Pampanga PIO
