Vice Gov. Dennis Pineda may not have a stand on the Pax Silica initiative yet, but he is urging Kapampangans to be discerning before making judgments about the project.
“Alamin po natin lahat ng mga data. Huwag po natin agad isasara yung isip natin tungkol dito,” Pineda said during an interview with CLTV36.
According to the vice governor, the national government would not support a project that causes major environmental harm or offers no benefits in return.
“Hindi naman po tatanggapin ng national government kung magkakaroon ng malaking epekto sa environment natin, at kung walang benepisyo na maibibigay po sa gobyerno natin,” he said.
He also said potential job creation and broader benefits for Central Luzon should be considered, while still waiting for final national-level findings on environmental impact.
“Imagine yung make-create na trabaho para sa ating mga Pilipino, at dito sa Region 3, ang laking bagay po nito,” he said.
“I think pagbigyan natin ang national government. Hindi po nila aaprubahan yan kung magkakaroon ng pinsala sa Pilipinas,” he ended.
Pax Silica, a planned hub for semiconductor and AI hub at New Clark City, is projected to have 190,000 direct jobs at its full operations.
Initial investments, on the one hand, will be $10 billion.
