Clark investors set to issue stand on Pax Silica

Following endorsement of various business groups, corporate giants and government leaders, the Clark Investors and Locators Association (CILA) is also set to issue its statement on Pax Silica initiative.

A CILA official who requested anonymity said that the statement will be discussed in the next CILA Board Meeting in the coming days.

When asked if it is geared towards expressing support for the project, the official said “of course but we just need to discuss details and concerns about the project.”

CILA has about 230 members among Clark’s locator-firms. Some of them are producers of semiconductors and microchips, key products that are reported to be processed, manufactured and assembled at Pax Silica’s industrial site in New Clark City in Tarlac province.

The Clark Freeport is host to Texas Instruments and SFA Semicon Philippines, a supplier of Samsung Korea.

On Saturday, the Pampanga Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PamCham) has expressed support for the Pax Silica project, stating that “it reaffirms its strong support for the Luzon Economic Corridor (LEC)”, a bigger development project that stretches from Northern Luzon to Batangas.

The biggest business Chamber in Central Luzon also called on the Metro Angeles Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MACCII), CILA, AmCham North Luzon, the PCCI chapters of Tarlac, Bataan, and Bulacan, and the region’s other business organizations “to join, refine, and co-own this Position Paper. A corridor that crosses provincial and freeport boundaries cannot be represented well by fragmented, chamber-by-chamber statements.”
