Former President and Pampanga 2nd District Representative Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo joined humanitarian and community leaders on Thursday, September 10, in strengthening relief efforts for families affected by the recent flooding in Pampanga.
Arroyo served as featured speaker at the World Humanitarian Day Friendship Luncheon hosted by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where she participated in the ceremonial signing of a Deed of Donation benefiting approximately 2,000 flood-affected families in Pampanga.
Arroyo signed the deed with Anthony John Balledos, Country Manager of Latter-day Saints Charities–Southeast Asia, Inc., witnessed by Elder Steven Shumway, Counselor in the Philippines Area Presidency, and Elizabeth Carlos-Timbol, President of the Metro Angeles Chamber of Commerce, Inc.
Arroyo expressed appreciation to the Church for its continuing humanitarian work, which provides assistance to communities affected by disasters and supports initiatives in food security, health, education, water and sanitation, and other basic needs.
She also acknowledged the Metro Angeles Chamber of Commerce for helping strengthen partnerships between the business community and humanitarian organizations.
The gathering brought together government, business, faith-based, humanitarian and civic leaders committed to working together to support families in need.
The donation underscores the shared commitment to help Pampanga families recover and rebuild following the recent floods.
