NLEX, SCTEX ready for Undas travel

Two of the country’s busiest tollways are set for the surge of motorists and travellers in this year’s observance of All Saints’ Day that will be marked by a long weekend.

Robin Ignacio, AVP for Traffic Operations of NLEX Corporation, said that they are deploying 1,500 personnel at NLEX and SCTEX from October 29 until November 3.

“We have been preparing for the Undas (All Saints Day) travel for weeks now,” Ignacio said.

He was guest in the News@Hues media forum of Pampanga Press Club at Park Inn by Radisson Clark.

Ignacio said that additional manpower will be assigned to various operational functions such as patrols, security, tellers, incident response teams, emergency medical services. At other toll roads in the south operated by Metro Pacific Tollways Corp, additional 500 similar personnel will be deployed.

He added that they anticipate an additional 5 percent increase in volume of motorists. The average daily number of motorists plying NLEX Corp-operated routes is pegged at 340,000 for NLEX, 77,000 for SCTEX and 22,000 for the Connector Road that stretches from Malabon to Caloocan.

NLEX Corporation has continued to improve on its tollroads including laying out and implementation of plans for improvements of entry and exit points or exchanges.
