CLARK FREEPORT — Nearly 600 jobs have been created with the opening of United Parcel Service’s (UPS) $80-million cargo hub at Clark International Airport.
The investment has generated jobs in operations, security, information technology, mechanical services, and other fields, with many positions filled by residents of Pampanga and nearby communities.
The 30,000-square-meter facility, more than 15 times larger than UPS’s previous Clark hub, expands its daily package-handling volume more than ninefold — from 5,000 to 46,000 packages — and increases maximum processing capacity from 1,250 to 15,000 packages per hour.
The new facility also features UPS Philippines’ first automated small-package sorting system, capable of processing up to 9,000 packages weighing less than three kilograms per hour. These improvements are expected to support faster transit times, earlier deliveries, and extended pickup cutoff times across more than 1,100 international trade lanes.

UPS operates 170 weekly flight segments to and from Clark International Airport. The hub expands the airport’s capacity to handle specialized shipments, including temperature-sensitive healthcare products, with three refrigeration and freezer units operating from -20°C to 25°C, dedicated re-icing facilities, and radio-frequency identification (RFID) technology.
The facility incorporates sustainability measures, including a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED)-certified building and electric ground-support equipment.
Luzon International Premiere Airport Development (LIPAD) Corp. President and CEO Noel Manankil said the expansion demonstrates Clark International Airport’s growing role as a gateway that connects people, businesses, and opportunities.
The new hub is also expected to support Clark AeroDistrict, LIPAD’s planned 759-hectare aviation-oriented development within the Clark Freeport Zone. Masterplanned by AECOM, the development will integrate aviation, cargo and logistics, maintenance, repair and overhaul facilities, commerce, and mixed-use developments.
UPS established its first Clark airport hub in 2002 and will mark 25 years of operations in the area in 2027.
