15 araw suspendido! Gov Pineda temporarily bars garbage trucks from Bulacan in Porac landfill

Pampanga Governor Dennis “Delta” Pineda has ordered the suspension of the hauling passes of all the garbage truckers from Bulacan.

The 15-day suspension, which started on Wednesday, June 11, was made to give way for the investigation of the Capitol’s Joint Composite Team on the reported garbage being dumped in the sanitary landfill in Barangay Mancatian, Porac from Bulacan despite having no permit.

Pineda personally inspected the sanitary landfill on Wednesday. Joining him were Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office (PENRO) Chief Arthur Punsalan and representatives from the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR)-Environmental Management Bureau (EMB) and the local government of Porac,

During the inspection, 15 trucks filled with garbage were seen in the area, the Provincial Information Office (PIO) said.

“Isa sa mga trak ay may hazardous waste tulad ng dextrose at walang tamang label ang mga trak na isang malinaw na paglabag sa RA (Republic Act) 9003, Section 24 ng Ecological Solid Waste Management Act at RA 6969 o Toxic Substances and Hazardous and Nuclear Wastes Control Act of 1990,” it said.

“Dahil dito, agad na pinatigil ang operasyon ng mga trak para sa masusing imbestigasyon,” the PIO said.

Pineda said his order to temporarily prevent garbage trucks from the neighboring province aimed to protect the health of the residents who could be affected by the hazardous waste and the foul odor in the area.
