Pampanga 1st District Rep. Carmelo “Jon” Lazatin II has remembered how resilient the Angeleños who managed to recover from the devastation brought by the eruption of Mt. Pinatubo 33 years ago.
The residents of Angeles City commemorated the volcano eruption on June 15, 1991. Mt. Pinatubo is found in Pampanga.
“Sa kabila ng sakuna, nakita natin ang tunay na diwa ng bayanihan at kung paano muling bumangon ang mga Angeleño mula sa trahedya ng Mt. Pinatubo,” Lazatin said.
“Ang kwento ng pag-asa, pagpupunyagi, lakas ng loob, tibay, at pagkakaisa ay patuloy na nagbibigay inspirasyon sa ating lahat. Saludo kami sa inyo!” he stressed.
Over 800 individuals reportedly died during the tragic incident, while damage to agriculture and infrastructure hit over P10 billion.
