ANGELES CITY — The city government has officially suspended the collection of the controversial environmental fee, following the issuance of Executive Order No. 2025-001 signed by Mayor Carmelo “Jon” Lazatin II.
The order directs a comprehensive review—and potential amendment—of local ordinances related to the imposition of the environmental or septage fee charged to residents by water utility companies.

Also covered by the suspension are desludging and siphoning activities conducted by accredited service providers.
Mayor Lazatin reiterated this policy shift during his inaugural speech on July 1, shortly after taking his oath of office. He emphasized that he remains committed to lifting policies that burden the people of Angeles City.
The executive order is seen as a move to reassess the necessity, impact, and implementation of the environmental fee, which has been the subject of criticism from various sectors in the city.
City officials are expected to begin the review process in coordination with relevant departments and stakeholders. #
