Bacolor District Hospital set to open, bringing healthcare closer to Kapampangans

BACOLOR, Pampanga — The newly constructed four-storey Ricardo Rodriguez Memorial Hospital Annex in Bacolor is set to open as a 25-bed infirmary while it completes licensing requirements for full operation as a 75-bed Level 1 hospital.

Governor Lilia “Nanay” Pineda, together with members of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan, Bacolor Mayor Eduardo “Diman” Datu, and barangay officials, inspected the facility on Friday, November 6, 2026.

Hospital Chief Dr. Jingle Maray said Governor Pineda approved its initial operation to immediately provide healthcare services to residents while licenses are being processed.

Once fully operational, the hospital will offer diagnostic and laboratory services, including X-ray, 2D echocardiography, ultrasound, and other essential medical services. It is expected to improve access to healthcare for residents of Bacolor and neighboring municipalities, reducing the need to travel to the City of San Fernando.

The National Government, through the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), allocated ₱250 million for the hospital’s construction from 2021 to 2025 through the General Appropriations Act — ₱50 million in 2021, ₱100 million in 2022, ₱50 million in 2023, and ₱50 million in 2024.

The Provincial Government of Pampanga allocated approximately ₱35 million for medical equipment, with funding initiated during the term of former Vice Governor Dennis “Delta” Pineda and continued under Gov. Pineda. The provincial government will also cover the hospital’s operational expenses.

“Lahat masaya. Mula sa effort ni Cong. Dong, Vice Gov. Delta, at kay Mayor. Kahit nahirapan tayo bago matapos, at the end of the day, nandito na siya. Role na ngayon ng Capitol ang mga gamit na ilalagay natin. Sa mga magtatrabaho dito, sa mga doctors at nurses, sana maging taos-puso ang serbisyo ninyo,” Gov. Pineda said.

Mayor Datu said the project was approved in a 2020 RDC meeting with the help of former Governor Delta Pineda and Congressman Gonzales, after he requested the prioritization of hospital buildings.

The facility is one of 10 district hospitals managed by the Provincial Government of Pampanga.
