BOC Clark, PDEA seize ₱75-M shabu in Clark airport ops

The Bureau of Customs and Clark Inter-Agency Drug Interdiction Task Group (CRK-IADITG) headed by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Region III, successfully intercepted a high-value shipment of methamphetamine hydrochloride (shabu) worth ₱75,072,000 during a joint airport interdiction operation at Clark Freeport Zone.

Authorities seized a suspicious parcel declared as an “Industrial Water Chiller” shipped from Mexico and consigned to an address in Cainta, Rizal. Upon inspection, operatives discovered 11.04 kilograms of shabu concealed within the shipment.

Two suspects were arrested during the operation, one alias “Dexs”, 52, of Cebu; and one alias “Maca”, 54, of Tarlac.

Both will face charges for violation of Sections 4, 11, and 20, Article II of Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002).

The joint operation was carried out by Bureau of Customs and PDEA Region III CLARK – IADITG in coordination with PDEA Pampanga Provincial Office, National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) Pampanga District Office, PNP Aviation Security Unit 3, PNP Drug Enforcement Group (PDEG), PNP Mabalacat CPS, Bureau of Customs – Customs Anti-Illegal Drug Task Force (CAIDTF), Port of Clark.

Recovered non-drug evidence included identification documents, a mobile phone, vehicle, and various shipping papers linked to the smuggling attempt.

PDEA Regional Office III confirmed that the confiscated substance will undergo laboratory examination while the arrested personalities are now under custody. Imposable penalties of life imprisonment and a fine ranging from ₱500,000 to ₱10 million await them if they are found guilty.

PDEA Director General Undersecretary Isagani R. Nerez commended the seamless collaboration of all law enforcement and border control agencies, stressing that the interception highlights the government’s unyielding commitment to cut the supply of illegal drugs at the country’s ports of entry.

“This interdiction success underscores our united front against international drug trafficking. We will remain vigilant in safeguarding our ports and borders to protect Filipino communities from the threat of illegal drugs,” Nerez said.

The CLARK-IADITG vowed to intensify operations in line with the whole-of-nation approach under the directives and vision of the Bagong Pilipinas campaign of President Ferdinand R Marcos Jr., against illegal drugs.
