Several youth groups, civil society organizations, and sectoral representatives converged at Nepo Quad in Angeles City on Sunday, November 30, as the Kilusan Kontra Kurakot (KKK) movement mounted a Bonifacio Day rally calling for stronger action against corruption.
The demonstration framed the event as both a commemoration of national hero Andres Bonifacio and a stand against what organizers described as persistent “mass corruption” in government.
Participants included student councils from Holy Angel University (HAU), fraternities such as Tau Gamma Phi and Sigma Kappa Pi, various Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) representatives, and other youth organizations. Members of the religious sector, public servants, and several private groups also joined the mobilization.
The program opened with an invocation led by Rev. Jerome Salen of the United Church of Christ in the Philippines (UCCP), followed by an opening message from KKK co-founder Liza Ocampo-Pulido. She highlighted the symbolic connection between Bonifacio’s legacy of resistance and the contemporary push for government accountability.
Speeches, solidarity messages, and a peaceful march through the area followed, with participants calling for transparency, systemic reforms, and stronger civic vigilance. Organizers emphasized that holding the rally on Bonifacio Day underscores the role of civic duty in confronting corruption.
The event concluded peacefully, with different sectors united in their demand for meaningful change. #
