The local government of San Fernando City, Pampanga, under the leadership of Mayor Vilam Balle-Caluag, is targeting to receive a “Beyond Compliant” rating for this year’s Gawad KALASAG Awards, an annual recognition of stakeholders promoting and implementing Disaster Risk Reduction Management (DRRM) practices.
This was after the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (CDRRMC) submitted its entry to the Central Luzon-based committee, which acts as the evaluator. The group comprises various offices, including the Regional DRRMC and the Office of Civil Defense (OCD).
CDRRM Officer Raymond Del Rosario reported the submission of the entry during the recent city’s monthly meeting, the City Information Office (CIO) said.
If the city passes the regional evaluation, it will be endorsed at the national level for an onsite validation.
In 2023, the CDRRMC garnered a “Fully Compliant” rating from the Gawad KALASAG.
For this year, the CIO said the Caluag administration is targeting to pass not only the validation but also to gain a “Beyond Compliant” rating.
