The San Fernando City government, under the leadership of Mayor Vilma Balle-Caluag, has launched a call to action among its employees to help stop the spread of the oil spill in Bataan.
The City Information Office (CIO) said the local government encouraged its staff to donate PET bottles. These will be made into organic oil spill booms or floaters.
“This call is part of the City’s actions towards the protection of San Fernando and Pampanga waterways,” it said.
The City Human Resource Management Office and the City Environment and Natural Resources Office are spearheading the campaign.
The oil spill occurred off Bataan waters after oil tanker MT Terra Nova, carrying 1.5 million liters of industrial oil, sank amid bad weather last week.
