Capas sitio gets DOST award for water filtration system project

A sitio in Capas, Tarlac has received an award for its water filtration system project from the Department of Science and Technology (DOST).

Capas Information Office (CIO) said Sitio Pilien in Barangay Sta. Juliana garnered third place in the 2026 Best Community Empowerment through Science and Technology (CEST) in Central Luzon.

The sitio also received the Sustainable Health and Nutrition Special Award during the ceremonies held at Pampanga State University – Don Honorio Ventura Campus on October 27.

The DOST-Central Luzon conferred the award during the “Ready, CEST, Go!” program under the 2026 Regional Science, Technology, and Innovation Week (RSTW),

“The winning entry highlighted the community’s water filtration donated by the DOST- Industrial Technology Development Institute (DOST-ITDI) under its Safe filtration/Safe Waters Program, providing clean and potable water to the upland village,” the CIO said.

The project has shown how science and technology directly uplift health, nutrition, and overall community well-being, it added.
