BALER, Aurora — Dumagat farmers in Casiguran, Aurora are set to enhance their farming capacity following the provision of a ₱300,000-worth rice transplanter from the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR).
The assistance, delivered under the Sustainable Livelihood Support for Disaster-Affected Areas (SLSDAA) program, will directly benefit 45 members of the Calabgan-Ditinagyan Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries Cooperative and aims to increase agricultural productivity while helping secure a stable local food supply in a hazard-prone community.
DAR Aurora Senior Agrarian Reform Program Officer Jose Salvador Mudlong said the SLSDAA program supports disaster-affected communities by rebuilding their sources of income through sustainable, long-term livelihood assistance.
The beneficiary cooperative operates in an area frequently affected by typhoons, flooding, and drought, which pose significant challenges to farming activities and productivity.

This rice transplanter will ease labor demands, speed up the planting process, and significantly improve rice yields during harvest seasons.
Mudlong added that cooperative members will also undergo capacity-building activities, including training on the proper operation and maintenance of the equipment.
Meanwhile, DAR continues to equip farmers across Aurora with modern agricultural machinery through programs such as the Sustainable and Resilient Agrarian Reform Communities.
In Maria Aurora town, a cooperative also received ₱340,000 worth of power tillers to support and boost vegetable production.
Through these interventions, DAR reinforces its commitment to strengthening agricultural resilience and improving the livelihoods of agrarian reform beneficiaries in vulnerable and disaster-prone communities.
