Death toll in Angeles City building collapse climbs to 27

Authorities recovered two more bodies from the collapsed building in Angeles City on Wednesday night, June 3, bringing the death toll to 27.

Casualty No. 26 was extricated from the site at 6:38 p.m., while Casualty No. 27 was recovered at 6:49 p.m.

“Patuloy ang search, rescue, at retrieval operations sa lugar habang isinasagawa ang maingat na clearing at assessment sa ilalim ng Unified Command System,” the Angeles City Information Office said.

Four bodies were extricated earlier in the day.

The nine-story building under construction collapsed before dawn on May 24.

Authorities have yet to determine the cause of the incident.
