The death toll from the collapsed nine-story building under construction in Angeles City rose to four people, while 17 others were still missing.
The Bureau of Fire Protection Central Luzon said their rescuers, together with responders from other agencies, continue to conduct search, rescue, and retrieval operations. The structure collapsed in Barangay Balibago, Angeles City, Pampanga, before dawn on Sunday, May 24.
Twenty-six individuals have been rescued.
The fatalities include a Malaysian national, two construction workers, and another unidentified person, authorities said.
Angeles City Mayor Carmelo “Jon” Lazatin II personally met with the families of the missing individuals from the incident.
“Sa gitna ng nagpapatuloy na operasyon, naglaan ng oras si Mayor Jon upang makausap at makiramay sa mga pamilya habang patuloy na nagbibigay ng updates at koordinasyon ang lokal na pamahalaan katuwang ang iba’t ibang ahensya,” the City Information Office (CIO) said.
Lazatin assured that the local government supports the continuous operation at the site.
