BALANGA CITY — Bishop Ruperto Santos of the Diocese of Antipolo on Wednesday sent his warmest greetings and heartfelt congratulations on the appointment of Fr. Rufino “Jun” Sescon as new bishop of Bataan.
Santos, former bishop of the Diocese of Balanga, said that the selection of Fr. Jun, his former student, for the sacred role is “a testament to his unwavering faith, dedication and exemplary service to the church and the community.”
He considers the new bishop as undoubtedly prepared for the responsibility because of Fr. Jun’s journey of spiritual leadership and pastoral care.
“His deep understanding of the needs and aspirations of the faithful, coupled with his compassionate heart and steadfast devotion to God’s work, makes him exceptionally qualified to lead the Diocese of Bataan,” Santos said.
He said that Bataan is indeed blessed to have a shepherd as distinguished and virtuous as Fr. Jun.
“His guidance will surely inspire and uplift the hearts of the people, fostering a spirit of unity, love, and faith within the province. He is a true gift to the community, bringing in hope, wisdom and divine grace to all who seek comfort and strength in their faith,” enthused Santos.
“As Fr. Jun embarks on this blessed journey, may God’s infinite wisdom and love continue to guide and empower him. May he find joy in his ministry, strength in his mission, and fulfillment in the lives he will touch and transform,” he added. “His dedication to spreading the light of Christ will undoubtedly leave an indelible mark on the hearts and souls of many.
“Wishing Fr Jun all the best as he leads the faithful of Bataan with grace, compassion, and unwavering commitment. May the Holy Spirit be with him always, guiding his steps and illuminating his path,” Santos furthered.
Santos, fourth bishop of Bataan from April 1, 2020 to July 22, 2023, was transferred to Antipolo with the Holy See appointing Most Rev. Florentino Lavarias, archbishop of San Fernando, Pampanga, as apostolic administrator of the Diocese of Balanga.
