MANILA, Philippines – The Luzon Economic Corridor (LEC) has expanded from its original three (3) members to a 13-partner international coalition, with LEC Co-Chair and Finance Secretary Frederick D. Go announcing the European Union (EU) and Spain as the newest partners during the inaugural LEC Investment Forum.

“We are very pleased to welcome the European Union and Spain to the partnership. Their participation brings additional expertise, technology, capital, and global business networks that can help accelerate investments and develop the infrastructure to support the Philippines’ growth. This is a strong vote of confidence in the Philippines and in the opportunities that our economy offers,” he said.
The LEC was launched by the Philippines, United States, and Japan to accelerate strategic infrastructure investments, strengthen connectivity and supply chains, and enhance the Philippines’ competitiveness as an investment and production hub.
It has since grown to include Australia, Canada, Denmark, France, Italy, the Republic of Korea, Sweden, and the United Kingdom, reinforcing the Philippines’ position as a strategic investment, production, and connectivity hub in the Indo-Pacific.

The addition of the EU and Spain further deepens Europe’s engagement with the corridor and expands the network of expertise, technology, financing, and business opportunities available to LEC projects.
The EU is aligning its €60-million Green Economy Programme and €20-million Digital Economy Package with LEC priorities, supporting green and circular development, renewable energy and energy efficiency, secure digital connectivity, innovation, and skills development.

Spain, meanwhile, will bring public- and private-sector expertise to advance potential LEC projects in railways, modular infrastructure, aviation, shipbuilding, air-navigation management, and renewable-energy connectivity.
Secretary Frederick Go emphasized that the LEC is ultimately about turning international partnerships into concrete investments and economic opportunities for Filipinos.
“The LEC is about building projects that generate jobs, strengthen our industries, and create lasting economic value for the Philippines.”

The inaugural LEC Investment Forum held on September 10, 2026 brought together government leaders, international partners, investors, and business executives to showcase priority projects, forge partnerships, and advance investment opportunities across the corridor.
