GCash takes digital finance drive to communities nationwide

MANILA – GCash is taking its financial inclusion programs to communities across the country this month, offering account assistance, digital payment services and financial literacy activities in areas with limited access to formal financial services.

The mobile wallet provider said it has rolled out activities in Cebu, Koronadal City, Makati, Tarlac, Cavite and the Bicol Region in partnership with government agencies, local governments and business organizations.

The programs include National ID registration assistance, GCash account registration and verification, cybersecurity education, digital payment onboarding and support for micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs).

Among the company’s partners are the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA), Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), National Housing Authority (NHA), Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI) and Philippine Franchise Association (PFA).

GCash chief operating officer Barbie Rodriguez-Dapul said bringing services directly to communities could help address barriers to financial access.

“Financial access should not depend on where a person lives or how familiar someone is with technology,” Rodriguez-Dapul said.

Under the GCash Barangay Outposts program, residents can register for the National ID and receive assistance with GCash account setup, verification, transactions and account security.

The PSA conducts National ID registration in barangay halls and other community venues, while GCash representatives assist residents with account-related services and scam prevention.

In the Bicol Region, GCash joined the NHA’s People’s Caravan, providing account assistance and information on financial services to residents of housing communities. In Koronadal City, it worked with the local government to promote digital financial services among residents and merchants.

In Concepcion, Tarlac, GCash supported the PalengQR program, enabling public market vendors to accept digital payments.

The company also partnered with the Philippine Franchise Association in Cebu and PCCI Cavite for programs aimed at helping MSMEs use digital tools for payments, financing, marketing and business operations.

GCash is likewise expanding its Pera Outlets, allowing qualified sari-sari stores and other neighborhood businesses to offer cash-in, cash-out and bills payment services.

Similar activities are scheduled in Davao City, Northern Mindanao, the Zamboanga Peninsula, Cotabato City, Lucena City, Quezon City, Mandaluyong and Manila.

GCash said the upcoming activities will include National ID registration, account assistance, digital payment onboarding for public markets, MSME engagement and community outreach.
