A top executive of Globe Telecom Inc. (Globe) has expressed support to Pax Silica, citing it as a “welcome development” for the country.
Atty. Froilan Castelo, Group General Counsel of Globe, shared growth perspectives on Pax Silica that include increased foreign investments, high tech infra and jobs generation.
“Pax Silica in the country would actually introduce high foreign investments, high-tech infrastructure, the employment of talents and the training of our workers,” Castelo said.
Castelo’s statement were in response to questions on what possible benefits would be created by Pax Silica, an AI hub and economic security zone to be built at New Clark City. They were made during Monday’s 2nd Quarter Financial Briefing for media with Globe President Carl Cruz leading the panel.
He however urged that government must also address concerns on environment and geopolitical issues obtaining in the project.
“This is a welcome development for the country, but then again as we said, the globe is always wary of some environmental and geopolitical issues, which should be addressed by the government and so forth. We are okay, we support Pax Silica, but with some guardrails and safety nets,” he said.
The BCDA, a government corporation tasked to oversee the NCC, has issued a statement that allayed fears on environmental effects particularly on water and power sources while also ensuring that Philippine laws will be applied in the establishment of the manufacturing and AI hub inside the 1,620-hectare Pax Silica site at NCC. Malacanang has also joined in the fray in allying apprehensions about the project.
In its 2nd Quarter Financial Briefing, Globe has reported a record high of P43.4 billion revenues for the period. It also posted a record for its consolidated gross service revenues of P85.4 billion for the first half of 2026, representing a 6-percent increase. This surpassed its previous high of P82.8 billion posted two years ago.
