Pampanga Governor Lilia “Nanay” Pineda has reminded her constituents, who were bitten by dog, to immediately consult the doctor.
She made the statement as 1,027 patients participated in the medical mission of the Alagang Nanay Preventive Health Care Program in Lubao Gym this weekend.
“Ang simpleng kagat ay maaaring magdala ng panganib na rabies,” the Provincial Information Office (PIO) said quoting the governor.
She noted that based on the study of the World Health Organization (WHO), around 59,000 individuals worldwide have been dying per year due to rabies after being bitten by dogs.
“Sa Pilipinas, mahigit 200,000 kaso ng kagat ng aso ang naitatala bawat taon. Ito ay 100% preventable kung maagap ang aksyon, pero 100% fatal kapag lumabas na ang sintomas,” the PIO said.
During the activity, the patients also received free checkups, breakfast, medicine maintenance, fare for going home, and grocery food packs from the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp.
