Pampanga Governor Dennis “Delta” Pineda said San Miguel Foods, Inc. has sought a dialogue with him following his order to temporarily ban the entry of hogs infected with African swine fever (ASF) in the province.
During the recent meeting, he said San Miguel representatives assured him they would provide certificates from the Bureau of Animal Industry (BAI) showing that their hogs and pork products are ASF-free.
“Tiniyak po ng San Miguel Foods Inc. na magpapakita ito ng mga results ng lab tests at clearances o certificate mula sa Bureau of Animal Industry,” Pineda said.
Under Executive Order No. 22, the governor ordered the temporary ban of hogs with symptoms or confirmed cases of ASF.
He also created the Pampanga ASF Task Force and directed the establishment of checkpoints.
Pineda said he wants to ensure the food safety of the Kapampangans.
