Pampanga Governor Lilia “Nanay” Pineda, together with Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Secretary Rex Gatchalian, has extended cash assistance to more than 2,000 farm workers in the province.
The Public Information Office (PIO) said each of the 2,379 beneficiaries from Lubao and Sasmuan towns received P3,000 each under the DSWD’s AKAP Program (Ayuda para sa Kapos ang Kita Program).
The farmer workers also got food packs from the provincial capitol.
“Sa buong lalawigan, aabot sa 14,389 farm workers ang nakatakdang makinabang sa parehong programa upang masiguro ang tuloy-tuloy na suporta sa sektor ng agrikultura,” the PIO said.
Vice Governor Dennis “Delta” Pineda, Lubao Mayor Esmie Pineda, and Sasmuan Mayor Catalina Cabrera were also present during the event.
The recipients were farmers who had been previously affected by the typhoons that had hit the country.
