Pampanga Governor Lilia “Nanay” Pineda has joined members of the Aeta community in celebrating Aeta Day.
Almost 1,000 Aeta student-scholars from Floridablanca, Porac, and Mabalacat City, and 200 Aetas from upland barangays in Floridablanca and beneficiaries of Project LAWA and BINHI of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), gathered at Bren Z. Guiao Convention Center in San Fernando City.
“Mas naging makulay at makahulugan ang pagdiriwang sa pamamagitan ng iba’t ibang cultural performances na nagpakita ng mayamang kultura, tradisyon at talento ng ating mga katutubong kabalen,” the Provincial Information Office (PIO) said.
The provincial government underscored the importance of providing education to the Aeta Kabalens to improve their lives.
Under the Educational Financial Assistance Program, each student received P2,500 cash assistance, as well as five kilos of rice, sardines, and corned beef.
Meanwhile, the elderly Aetas received P11,400 each under Cash for Work, and food packs.
