The Pampanga government, under the leadership of Governor Lilia “Nanay” Pineda, has congratulated the first Aeta medical technologist in the province.
Rolan Popatco Jr. of Barangay Camias, Porac, is a Capitol Aeta Scholar. He passed the Medical Technological Licensure Examination this March.
“Ang kanyang tagumpay ay hindi lamang para sa kanyang pamilya, kundi nagsisilbi ring inspirasyon sa buong komunidad ng mga Katutubong Pilipino na patuloy na nagsusumikap makamit ang mas mataas na antas ng edukasyon at propesyon,” the Provincial Information Office (PIO) said.
Popatco finished a Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology at the College of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel, Pampanga.
He became a provincial government scholar under the Educational Financial Assistance Program (EFAP).
As a scholar, he received financial assistance of P10,000 every semester. The provincial capitol also covered his tuition fees and dormitory fees, allowing him to focus on his studies.
Popatco aspires to be a doctor someday, so he can help his fellow Aetas and provide medical services to his community.
