Key Takeaways in Mayor Aquino’s SOCA

In his very first SOCA, Mabalacat City Mayor Geld Aquino reported accomplishments since becoming local chief executive.

As anticipated, he reported on growth indicators such as revenues, collection of GIEs, budget and of course improvement of social welfare services.

But what makes his SOCA really unique as his own administration’s initiatives? Here are some key takeaways not just on the SOCA but also on the direction and plans for the city.

The MABALACAT GOVERNMENT ADVANCED UNIFIED COMMAND CENTER (MGA-UCC). Now on stage of bidding , the facility will not only have CCTV cameras mounted in vital areas. It will also have an App where people can report incidents needing attention by police and other authorities. The app will will be critical in monitoring and dispatch system. While awaiting completion of procurement process, the City Government is using a mobile command center.

The MABALACAT CITY HUB. It is about time that the City has its own auditorium. This will be a bigger and better facility for meetings, forums, cultural events and the like with the so-called Jade Hall of the City Government in Xevera, Tabun, Mabalacat already saturated and had gone small, if not worn out.

FREEDOM PARK. A little less than 10 hectares of land in between Brgy. Atlu Bola and Sta. Ines tnat is being negotiated with the Philippine National Construction Corp. It would be prudent and beneficial for PNCC to already turn this over to Mabalacat City government as it remained idle for several years. Mayor Aquino wilo have a better use for this like commercial stalls and even for his plan to build a Convention Center.

VISIT TO SOUTH KOREA. With Vice Mayor Jun Castro, this visit was filled with meaningful activities. For one, it was a “dalaw” to Mabalaquenians who were hired as seasonal workers. The visit manifested a reassurance to both the employers (that hired workers would not jump ship) and the employees (that their leaders care about their working and living conditions). The visit, with all the audience the mayor and vice mayor granted to some city leaders and businessmen in various South Korean localities, also showed that Mabalacat is safe and open to investment projects.

PROPOSED NEW PUBLIC CEMETERY. To be located at Barangay Sapang Balen, this is a welcome development as the existing public graveyard had been cramped already.
