San Fernando City Mayor Vilma Balle-Caluag has led Pampanga in receiving the award after the province was named third runner-up in the 2025 “Rescuelympics” organized by the Office of Civil Defense (OCD).
The Pampanga team, composed of responders from San Fernando City (San Fernando Rescue Unit), Mabalacat City, and Apalit, represented the entire Central Luzon region in the competition after emerging champions in the CL Regional Rescue Challenge, besting other provinces and localities in Region 3.
Caluag attended the awarding ceremony alongside City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Officer Raymond Del Rosario, who also serves as the president of both the Region 3 and Pampanga DRRM associations.
Caluag said the national distinction validates the DRRM excellence of Fernandinos and Kapampangans.
She hailed the team’s discipline, readiness, and teamwork.
The OCD’s “Rescuelympics” was part of the culminating activities for National Disaster Resilience Month (NDRM).
