ANGELES CITY — In his very first State of the City Address, Mayor Carmelo “Jon” Lazatin II highlighted the city’s accomplishments over the past year and reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to people-centered good governance.
The report, he said, is the result of the collective effort of city officials, employees, and the people of Angeles City.
“My vision is to make Angeles City a model of resilience, good governance, and sustainable development in the Philippines,” Lazatin stated.
He also emphasized good governance, unity, resilience, inclusive growth, and people-centered services, highlighting accomplishments over the past year, partnerships with national agencies, and commitments to prioritizing citizens’ welfare above politics.
The city strengthened tourism through partnerships with the Department of Tourism, by launching new programs and hosting international events. A major milestone was the proclamation of Holy Rosary Parish Church as a minor basilica, further cementing Angeles’ status as a center of faith.
On jobs and livelihood, the Public Employment Service Office helped applicants find local employment and assisted Angelenos in securing overseas jobs. The city’s Driving School Program also provided free driving education to members of indigenous communities.
The city has also supported coffee farmers and invested over ₱5 million in livelihood assistance in partnership with the Department of Agriculture. Organic farming sites were established in barangays and public schools, while the city launched a palay buying program to directly support rice farmers.
Children and seniors have also benefited with the strenthening of child protection programs, and the distribution of benefits to the elderly: octogenarians and nonagenarians received ₱10,000 each, and 13 centenarians received ₱100,000 each. From July 2025 to present, 10,787 senior citizens received free medicines.
Investments continued in public school infrastructure with new buildings, computers, and other equipment. The City College of Angeles, meanwhile, earned a 5-star rating and was recognized in the World University Ranking.
“Angeles City’s progress is built on unity,” Mayor Lazatin said. “Together with our officials, employees, and Angelenos, we will continue working for a city that is resilient, compassionate, and future-ready.”
