Angeles City Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr. has personally handed over a certificate of recognition and a cash gift to a centenarian in the city.
Lazatin gave P100,000 cash from the national government under Republic Act No. 10868 to Esperansa Cornal Caas of Barangay Pampang.
Joining the mayor were the members of the Barangay Pampang Council, headed by Captain Carlos Dela Cruz, and City Social Welfare and Development Officer Edna Duaso during the awarding of the cash gift.
RA 10868 or the Centenarians Act of 2016 grants all Filipinos who reach the age of 100, whether residing in the country or abroad, a cash award of P100,000 as a centenarian gift.
“One of the cornerstones of the Lazatin administration is ensuring the welfare of the elderly,” the City Information Office (CIO).
Since he took office in 2019, all senior citizens in Angeles City each received P1,000 cash gift, and vitamin supplements yearly from the city government, it noted.
